« Content is king » and « Video is the most powerful storytelling medium »!

This might sound very cliché but sometimes, you know, clichés are not completely wrong…  And here at CROP THE BLOCK we believe it’s actually 100% true. We believe that this – combined with advance in technologies – provides a basic explanation of why online video is getting so big at the moment (Cisco reports online video isn’t just growing fast, it’s growing faster than any other type of consumer service offering – and soon it’s going to be even more popular than Facebook, Twitter and co).

We don’t know you but here we have the very exciting feeling that video is not only growing online but is being re-invented in the digital world. And we constantly try to understand why, how and towards which direction.

Let us first quickly introduce you to what we are doing at CROP THE BLOCK. Basically we bring together some of the most promising independent filmmakers and we create inspiring digital video content with them. We do it for demanding clients who need us to come up with efficient video marketing strategies and powerful content. We mainly focus on the online tourism industry but not only.

How is it related to this blog? Well, it means that ever single day we try to bring several steps further our understanding of video creation codes, habits of people watching videos, platforms and technologies to broadcast them, etc. We pay deep attention to what other people say and write down when it comes to online video. And, yes, we love it.

So we thought it would be nice to share with you the few insights we come up with. Technology matters and we will sometimes deal with it in this blog. But the main focus will be on video content creation and marketing. Among topics we will for sure deal with are: how can and should video content be produced today? what can brands learn from independent creators? is there life for videos outside of the YouTube ecosystem? how can video (positively) affect SEO? is there still a border between content producers and broadcasters? and so on and so on.

We will provide our views on hot topics as well as deeper analysis. We want to discuss them. We believe some insights are key but also that there is no absolute rule, that online video field is open and that conversation can only strengthen this blog’s purpose. So feel free to react, whether you agree, disagree or want to add/correct something.
